2017 is a monumental year both locally and nationally. Throughout the year, celebrations of Guelph’s 190 year have been taking place alongside the celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Canadian Confederation. Guelph 190 Guelph was founded in 1827 and since then it’s grown into a vibrant community full of creativity, innovation, drive and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The Royal City has been listed as a top place to live as well as a great place to purchase real estate. This Summer there are lots of opportunities to celebrate. Mark your calendars for May 13! Royal City Realty’s Annual Garage Sale For Shelter will be popping up all over town. Our Fergus office will be hosting a garage sale at our Tower St. location and neighbourhoods across Guelph will be coming together to help raise money for our local women’s shelter. We all love the serene spots in Rockwood. From the quaint downtown to the beautiful sceneries of the Rockwood Conservation Area, it’s a lovely place to live and visit. In fact, it’s so lovely that a number of films have used it as their backdrop. Here are 11 times Rockwood was in the movies. A History of Violence Release Date: 2005 Starring: Viggo Mortensen This American crime thriller filmed around Ontario, including in Rockwood Conservation Area (IMDB). Cheaper by the Dozen 2 Release Date: 2005 Starring: Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Eugene Levy, Hilary Duff The family-friendly sequel finds the Baker family competing with a rival family on their Summer vacation. Rockwood was the perfect backdrop for these cottage scenes (Wikipedia). Men with Brooms Release Date: 2002 Starring: Paul Gross, Leslie Nielson This Canadian curling flick showed a lot of love to Canadian backdrops and curling clubs around Ontario, and of course the lovely Rockwood Conservation Area (IMDB). eXistenZ Release Date: 1999 Starring: Jude Law This science fiction body horror film was written, produced, and directed by Canadian director David Cronenberg (Wikipedia). Parts of the movie were filmed in the Rockwood Conservation Area. Valentine’s Day Dates Ideas In Guelph

From the great outdoors, to quaint cafes and local hot spots, this list of date ideas in Guelph should kick start your Valentine’s Day. Enjoy the Great Outdoors Together Riverside Park runs alongside a portion of the Speed River, so it’s a great place within Guelph to go for a stroll, get a glimpse of some wildlife, and enjoy each other’s company. Guelph Lake – the trails are amazing, especially after a fresh sprinkle of snow. Goldie Mill Park Ruins. You can enjoy the beauty of the ruins, quietly meditate along the banks of the Speed River, and (in the warmer months) have a romantic picnic with your special someone. It’s a lovely backdrop for some photos. The covered bridge – right on the river! Walk through the vibrant downtown, then finish off with a view of the city from the Civic Museum patio.
